"The marsh, to him who enters it in a receptive mood, holds, besides mosquitoes and stagnation, melody, the mystery of unknown waters, and the sweetness of Nature undisturbed by man."

Highland Woods Walk Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Tiverton Land Trust invites you to a 1.5 mile walk through Highland Woods, a recent acquisition and the new gateway to the Sin and Flesh Brook Natural Area and the Fort Barton Revolutionary War Redoubt.

Led by Garry Plunkett, participants will enjoy newly opened trails and diverse flora alongside the brook that winds through a mature mixed oak and holly forest. On the return route we’ll stop by the surviving earthworks of a Revolutionary War site that was a key strategic position in the Battle of Rhode Island, and finish up by enjoying a sweeping view of the Sakonnet River and Aquidneck Island from atop the observation tower on the redoubt. Note: This event is free and open to everyone, but space is limited and registration is required. To reserve your spot, you MUST RSVP directly by email to info@tivertonlandtrust.org. Participation is limited to the first 22 who register. Meet at Tiverton Town Hall parking lot Sunday, September 25, 10 am – 12:30 pm.
