"The marsh, to him who enters it in a receptive mood, holds, besides mosquitoes and stagnation, melody, the mystery of unknown waters, and the sweetness of Nature undisturbed by man."

~ Charles William Beebe (1877-1962),
Log of the Sun, 1906

Improvements Plans for 2015 are in place and work continues at Highland Woods to reach our long term goal of slowly restoring and returning the forest area to its natural state. Six students from the newly entering freshman class at Roger Williams University will be removing invasive plants at Highland Woods Preserve on August 24th. Their voluntary efforts are part of the Community Connections 2015 program at the university.  Recently, cedar trees were planted near the Highland Woods pedestrian entry area to improve the landscaping near the trailhead.
